My name is Meredith Pfister and I am a childbirth educator and ICEA trained Birth Doula . I am currently serving on the Board of Directors for the Black Hills Birth Network. My home is in Black Hawk, South Dakota with my husband, five lovely kids, occasional bonus kiddos, two dogs, two cats, and chickens.
I grew up in small town in northern Wisconsin and spent my childhood outdoors playing in the lake, participating in music, and trying to beat my big brothers in sports. I graduated from Luther College in Iowa with a BA in Physics and a minor in Secondary Education. I received my Masters of Science Education from the University of Wisconsin - River Falls. I taught high school Physics for seven years in Minnesota and South Korea. A few months after my husband and I finally settled in South Dakota on his family's horse ranch I found my passion; birthwork.
For as long as I can remember, I have adored babies and been in awe of the birthing process. After their own experiences with doulas, a few very dear friends pushed me to pursue doula training. They were right; I love being a doula! I am most passionate about empowering women during their pregnancy, labor, and motherhood. It's such a privilege to be a part of such a special time in a family's journey.
